Hungarian Aluminium Company Offers Compensation To Victims

Jak będę bogaty, to też tak będę ludzi (a może bydło?) traktował.

Szkoda:
Killed four people in the village of Kolontar, injured 150 and left three still missing, is not yet known.

Odszkodowanie firmy:
EUR360 to each family

Właściciele:
The company's three owners have long featured in the lists of Hungary's 100 richest people.
Lajos Tolnay is estimated to have a personal fortune of EUR85 million, which would make him the country's 21st richest person. His two associates, Arpad Bakonyi and Bela Petrusz, share 28th position with personal fortunes of EUR61 million each.

Hehe, niezłe to odszkowanie.

BUDAPEST (AFP)-- MAL, the company at the center of the massive toxic spill that has devastated parts of western Hungary and poisoned rivers, offered Thursday to pay compensation to families hit by the disaster.
MAL Hungarian Aluminium Production and Trade Company-- whose owners are among the richest individuals in the country-- plans to pay "rapid aid" of EUR360 to each family, or 110,000 euros in total, said Karoly Tili, the mayor of one of the hardest-hit villages.
The exact cause of the accident, which killed four people in the village of Kolontar, injured 150 and left three still missing, is not yet known.
The spill occurred on Monday, when the containing walls of a residue reservoir at an aluminium plant burst, sending 1.1 million cubic meters (38.8 million cubic feet) of toxic red sludge into surrounding villages.
The government has declared a state of emergency in the affected areas and pollution has already wiped out all marine life in one small river and spread to the Danube, some 50 kilometers away.
MAL has come under fierce criticism, with officials suggesting too much of the caustic red sludge was contained in the reservoir, but the company insists it has done nothing wrong.
MAL, which was set up in 1995, had annual revenues of EUR157 million in 2008 and posted a profit of EUR715,000.

No nie do końca, od ręki moga wypłacić 360 każdej rodzinie, ale łącznie 100 tysięcy chcą na to przeznaczyć.
