This prestigious honor is given to scholars working in the humanities and related social sciences. Press Release -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Maxwell School of Syracuse University celebrates ten-year association with Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse, New York, celebrated the tenth anniversary of its partnership with IIMB as well as the “Maxwell India chapter” of its alumni network at a gala gathering in the capital today. Public Administration Professors Elected as Fellows. Professors William Duncombe and David Van Slyke have been elected as Fellows of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), where they join seven other Maxwell professors who have already received this distinction. New Fellows will be introduced to the Academy during the 2010 Fall Meeting in November at the NAPA offices in Washington, D.C. Maxwell School Receives Major Gift from Andrew Berlin. The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs announced today that it has received a $500,000 endowment gift to fund faculty research relating to issues of national security. The Andrew Berlin Family National Security Research Fund has been established in honor of Professor David H. Bennett and will operate through the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism. Read more. Brian McLane to Receive Arents Award. Among this year’s winners of SU’s George Arents Award is Brian McLane, in whose honor Maxwell Advisory Board member Larry Bashe established the Brian McLane Fellowship for Disability Studies in 2002 to support Maxwell students dedicated to representing the interests of under-served individuals and communities with disabilities. McLane will be awarded the Arents Award for Excellence in Social Activism and Disability Rights at a ceremony on October 15. Read more. Reeher Authors Op-Ed Piece. Professor Grant Reeher authored a Post- Standard op-ed about unexpected results from political polls in the lead-up to New York State's 2010 gubernatorial race. Reeher was also quoted in an Albany Business Review story about business lobbying groups and gubernatorial candidate Carl Palladino. "Iran's President Brings Political Baggage to NY." In an Associated Press article about Iranian politics and the upcoming United Nations visit by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Professor Mehrzad Boroujerdi, in referring to the Iranian opposition movement, says that "they have generally gotten rid of the Green Movement and now they are fighting among themselves."
